Gateway Youth is founded on 4 pillars

  1. Communion - God’s Word, Prayer & Worship

  2. Family - Gatherings & Celebrations

  3. Discipleship - Small Groups, Evangelism & Missions

  4. Personal Growth - Becoming like Jesus and fulfilling our purpose in Christ.

AGE: Grades 7 - 12

WHEN: Sunday 10am & Wednesday 7pm

WHERE: Gateway Chapel (next to the main building), 109 Bull Hill Lane, West Haven CT 06516

At Gateway we love to worship. On Sundays the youth join the adults for worship in the main sanctuary at 129 Bull Hill Lane (right across the parking lot). After worship, the youth are dismissed and lead by volunteers to the chapel. At no time are the youth left unattended as they leave one building and go to the other.

In the chapel, attendance is taken, announcements are made, and the teaching for the day is given. After the teaching, the youth divide into small groups. Grades 7 to 9 stay upstairs, and grades 10 to 12 go downstairs. Here, we have an opportunity to dig into the lesson and make it more personal and relatable to the specific age groups. We have found that the youth are more engaged and willing to participate in these small group settings.

On Wednesdays, we facilitate the youth to engage and interact with each other from 7pm to 7:30pm. Attendance is taken during this time.

At 7:30, we’ll review our last lesson and engage in a new one. We’ll then break in our small group setting for personal reflection.

We desire to provide a safe place for our middle school and high school teens with the following guidelines:

  • We hold all our leaders to a high standard of holiness and conduct. All our leaders undergo background checks, references and leadership covenant.

  • There is no alone time with leaders and students for any reason.

  • In case of injury, incident reports and follow ups are mandatory.

  • There will not be "free for all" mentality during Wednesday nights or Sunday mornings. If you are dropping off your child for service they will not be allowed to roam around the parking lot at their own desire. They will stay in the chapel until the end of the service, after which they are walked to the main building or a parent or guardian picks them - whichever is sooner.

Gateway Youth has varies events throughout the year - hiking, tubing, fishing and so much more. A great way to connect with us is on social media where we post updates, pictures, our monthly newsletter and events.

Would you like to Volunteer?

As we grow in numbers it is important to have enough volunteers to give the youth the personal attention they need. To become a part of our team, we ask that you fill out an application. Once this is turned in, a background checks ran because you will be working with minors and references are checked. We will then set up an interview with you. It is important to us to place people in their gifting so they can use their talents and abilities in the best place. Volunteers in youth ministry need to be outgoing, fun, silly, creative and well seasoned in their spiritual relationship with Jesus.
